Dallas Aquatic Masters (DAM) Swimmers and Friends,

As many of you in the DAM community are aware, SMU Athletics is nearing the completion of construction of the brand new Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center for their men’s and women’s varsity swimming and diving teams.  This is truly a world-class facility that will be an incredible addition to SMU, as well as the North Texas swimming community.

As a group that has a longstanding partnership with SMU and will benefit from the construction of this new aquatics center, DAM is embarking on a capital campaign to raise $600,000 from its coaches, members, and affiliates as a sign of its support and to further strengthen its partnership with SMU. With a membership of more than 600, DAM has the potential to make a significant impact in helping SMU close the gap towards reaching its fundraising goal, which stands at approximately $2.9MM.

To appropriately memorialize DAM’s gift, SMU is willing to permanently name the visiting Men’s and Women’s Public Locker Rooms in DAM’s honor. Additional naming opportunities exist for any individual donors making substantial contributions.

Through the initial support of a small number of DAM members, DAM has reached 50% of its goal, having secured financial commitments of just over $300,000 to date. It is DAM’s hope that you will personally consider making a gift as well, and encourage your friends and family to get involved to push DAM to victory. All gifts are 100% tax deductible and can be made over a five year period. Attached is a donor pledge form for your review and consideration.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that SMU intends to build an outdoor pool as part of the aquatics center. When it is built, DAM will have access to that pool as well. However, construction of the outdoor pool will not be considered until the fundraising goal for the indoor facility has been met.  Any support that DAM is able to provide for the indoor facility will aide in making a new outdoor pool a reality.

We hope to move quickly with this effort and achieve our fundraising goal by the grand opening and dedication of the Aquatics Center, which will take place on Friday, November 3rd

Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact any of us below.  You can also contact the SMU Athletics development office at 214-768-2582 should you have any questions or need any assistance making a gift.

Thank you for your DAM membership, and for your consideration of this fundraising initiative.
