Alex Walton joined the Mustangs as a volunteer assistant in January of 2020 and primarily works with the middle distance group.
Prior to his time on the Hilltop, Walton worked as an undergraduate coach at his alma mater, the University of Missouri, primarily specializing with the IM group. While working with his former training group, Walton mentored Olympic Trial qualifiers. While there, he also worked as an assistant coach at Columbia Swim Club.
A member of the Mizzou men’s swimming and diving team (2015-19), Walton was a team captain and helped lead the Tigers to the third highest SEC team scoring performance in history. Walton ranks top-ten all-time at Mizzou in the 400 IM (2nd), 200 IM (4th) and 200 back (6th) and was a U.S. Olympic Team Trial qualifier in 2016. He was also a member of the SEC Honor Roll.
Walton graduated from Mizzou in December of 2019 with a degree in agricultural systems management and a minor in agricultural economics.
