Kimmy started her swimming journey on the Aurora YMCA Sharks Club Team in Aurora, Illinois. She competed on that team for 12 years before heading off to college where she swam at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. During that period, she was the IL state champion in the 50 yard breaststroke by age 12, qualified for 11 IL YMCA State meets, qualified for 9 YMCA National meets, qualified for 4 IL High school state championship meets with West Aurora High School, and holds multiple records at that high school and club team in the 50,100 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 200 medley relay. In college, she was apart of 2 winning WIAC conference meets for the women's team, and placed top 8 in the 100, 200 breaststroke, and 200 IM at the WIAC conference meets.
In regards to coaching, she started when she was 16 years old for the Oswego Otters Park District Swim Team and eventually became head coach of the USA Athletic Club Tidal Waves after college in Aurora, IL. Once she moved to Texas, she joined the Dallas Mustangs Swim team and coached there for 5 years. Kimmy joined the DAM coaching staff in 2019.
